Guest Bathroom Updates

For the guest bathroom we painted the cabinet with left over Rust-o-Leum Kitchen cabinet transformation, the installed frames around the mirror.

1.  Painted the cabinets/vanity - $0.00
2.  Used window/door molding from a previous project - cut at 45 degrees. $0.00
3.  Spray painted the molding with rust-o-leum metallic finish and let dry overnight $6.00
4.  Installed the molding with liquid nails mirror/glass adhesive $4.00

Total cost $10.00  KA-CHHHHING!!!!
Again Major renovation will be done in a not so near future.

Kitchen updates

A major kitchen renovation is in the not-so-near future....so we opted for this as a practical and affordable solution.  Make sure you pickup three tubs of elbow-grease for this job.

After all was said and done, we decided to turn to our always faithful craigslist in the Appliance section for a working stove and dishwasher.  The over-the-range microwave was free from our previous house.  Now we're searching high and low for a temporary yet good looking solution for the floors.

Floor Renovation

So we just bought a condo . . . in terrible shape and condition.  In order for us to move in, we have to get one thing done --- get rid of the old nasty carpet!

As you can see in the 'before' picture the house came with um... to put it gently 'old carpet.' Underneath the carpet we found what they call Pergo Squares which we absolutely HATE.  So we ripped the carpet and Pergo all the way to the sub-floor except the Kitchen and baths and Install a new hardwood floor.


In our quest for hardwood floors (thank you craigslist), the hardwood floor gods were looking out for us.  Studio Theater In DC listed these gorgeous unfinished oak hardwood  3" wide 3/4" thick wood planks that was previously used in their theater stage. We got the whole thing for $175.00.  Not only did we save money, we feel great that our own floors have some  history to it. Lord knows some famous people must have walked or dance on it. :-D !BREAK A LEG!

A very good friend of ours suggested that we should carve the name of the theaters in one of the corner of the house, which we might take up his advice.
